Introduction to TaxiCall

TaxiCall is a service for any group of Drivers who would like to run their own circuit taking telephone calls from customers but without the expense and trouble of running a central office.

What's Different About TaxiCall?

Quite simply – TaxiCall is unique.  It gives you full control of your own telephone booking number for a fraction of the cost of an office.  Our automated call distribution system saves you the time and trouble of paying someone else to answer the phone, and guarantees fair sharing of calls between drivers.  There's no investment or expensive special equipment needed, just a mobile phone for each driver.

Building Up Telephone Business 

You will need to promote your new TaxiCall number to local businesses and the public Most circuits distribute cards and flyers, and some use door signs and local advertising.  It takes effort to get started, but new groups can attract hundreds of calls in their first month, and many established TaxiCall circuits take thousands of calls each month. As a TaxiCall Number becomes established it becomes a significant source of income for drivers on the circuit.

How Does TaxiCall Work?

When customers call your TaxiCall number, they hear it ringing just as though they were calling a local office, while our automated system finds a driver to take the call.  It tries each driver in turn, going first to those who have least recently had a call, and if a driver is not available then it moves on to the next on the list.  When a driver accepts the call then the customer hears it answered, and they can talk to sort out the details of the job.

For your TaxiCall number, we will offer you a choice of memorable local numbers in your area.  We can also offer golden numbers (charges apply), 0800/0808 Freephone numbers, or you can use a number which you already own.

It costs nothing for Drivers to call in when they are coming on or going off duty. They simply dial a login or logout number which rings once but does not answer, so the system knows that they have logged in or out but there is no charge on their mobile bill.

Because calls are routed directly to the available Drivers there is no bottleneck at busy times – and no need for the cost of staff to man the phones.

Although it is very simple to use, TaxiCall incorporates many features which make sure that customers calls are handled efficiently and distributed fairly, and the job of the local organiser is made easy. The status of the Drivers, and the details of every call, are available immediately on secure Web pages which show you exactly what the situation is at any moment, and all the recent history, if you need to check.

Calls are billed to the nearest second with no minimum call charge.  The low monthly subscription includes a free call allowance.  There are no premium numbers or hidden charges involved.  For full details see our Price List.

Who Is Behind TaxiCall?

TaxiCall is run by Cambridge Tele.com Ltd, a provider of specialist telephone services. The TaxiCall servers are housed in a secure data centre, where we benefit from the investment by a major international telecommunications company in a securely managed environment, including: 24 hour staffing and security; multiple redundant communications links; and protected power supplies.
